Welcome to Belmont
Peaceful, family-minded community in a beautiful setting.
Belmont gets its name from the phrase "bel monte," which is Italian for "beautiful mountain." It's a very appropriate name for this pretty city, nestled in a valley surrounded by wooded hills. Belmont has become a favorite residential location for Silicon Valley employees due to its central location and excellent school system. It has a selection of incredible local dining and shopping options and is just minutes from San Mateo's bustling downtown district. The city is family-minded, with fantastic parks, a newly refurbished public library, and a top-rated school system.
Belmont has a great selection of single-family homes. Homes closer to the center of town tend to be more modest, while those built further up in the hillside are spacious and set on large, private lots. Homes here have tons of curb appeal and are well-maintained, with modern amenities and fabulous outdoor living spaces.
If you are looking for a family-friendly central location with plenty of housing options, Belmont could be the perfect fit.

Local Lifestyle
Belmont is a very family-friendly community. Thanks to the top-rated schools, many families live in the area. There are endless events around town throughout the year that are appropriate for residents of all ages. It is also a community that loves getting outdoors. The town's crown jewel is Waterdog Lake & Open Space, a hilly park with a lake and miles of trails perfect for a day of exploration. Many residents enjoy traveling to nearby towns such as San Mateo to enjoy its downtown area or over to Half Moon Bay to spend a day on the beach.
Dining, Entertainment & Shopping
Belmont has two commercial areas that contain excellent shopping and dining establishments. The Iron Gate on El Camino Real offers an upscale dining experience with perfectly cooked dishes from France and Italy. The white-glove service is as good as the food. For a more laid-back experience, head to Vivace on Ralston Avenue. The Italian restaurant serves family favorites in a comfortable setting. Their bar is a great place to watch the game. Nearby, Gin Mon offers authentic Chinese dishes such as pot stickers, hot and sour soup, and excellent chow mein. Their to-go service is also perfect when you want a cozy night in. The restaurant is in the Carlmont Shopping Center, with some great boutique shopping and an excellent supermarket.
Things to Do
While Waterdog Lake & Open Space is the city's most significant green space, there are several other parks in Belmont. Twin Pines Park is a local favorite, with a pleasant creek running through its well-manicured lawns and lovely picnic spaces. It's also home to the Twin Pines Art Center, which hosts a summer concert series. Belmont hosts several other annual festivals, including the popular Greek Festival. Happening annually over Labor Day weekend, the Greek Festival offers cooking demonstrations, food stalls, dancing, music, plays, and more. The Belmont Rotary Club hosts an annual Lobster Fest at the Twin Pines Senior & Community Center. The event has live and silent auctions, a DJ and bar, and of course, lots of lobster, and the money raised provides scholarships, teacher grants, cars to veterans, and much more to the community.
