Welcome to Foster City

A scenic small town that's an outdoor lover's paradise.

Foster City sits on the western edge of San Francisco Bay to the southeast of San Mateo. This smaller Bay Area town is home to just over 30,000 people, built around a winding blue lagoon overlooking the beautiful bay waters. There are great green spaces, with more than 24 parks in the town limits and miles of pedestrian paths that take you right along the lagoon or the Bay. You'll find sports fields, tennis and basketball courts, boating, beaches, and excellent playground facilities dotted around the town. Foster City is a paradise for those who love spending their time outdoors.

Wide, tree-lined streets guide you from one park to the next, along the lagoon, and past spacious homes on well-maintained lots. Most of the homes in Foster City are newer single-family homes, typically well-cared for and containing great amenities such as in-ground pools, smart home technology, and gourmet kitchens. There is also a great selection of luxury condos in Foster City for those looking for low-maintenance living. Many homes have views over the lagoon, and some even have boating docks so you can get out on the water right from your backyard. And with Foster City's Mediterranean climate, you'll have plenty of opportunities year-round.

Foster City is much quieter than the busier parts of the Bay Area. This scenic small town is an excellent place to live if you seek peaceful, calm vibes and plenty of opportunities to get outdoors. Living here allows you to get away from the city's hustle while still being a short drive away from the action. Foster City allows great connections to all parts of the bay area through easy access to highways 101, 92, and 280.

There is plenty to keep you busy within the town, too. Waterways and pedestrian paths connect to Foster City's commercial areas, where you'll find independent and big-box brands. Local dining options are plentiful, including places like Waterfront Pizza, which serves gourmet Italian dishes with seating on the water. There is also a summer concert series at Leo J. Ryan Park, which is great for spending an evening with the family. Other events like the 4th of July Parade and rowing regattas are excellent entertainment for residents of all ages.

The San Mateo-Foster City School District serves the town, which contains some of the top schools in the Bay Area.
